Profile

The Department of Zoology of Bagadhar Brahma Kishan College, Jalah, is a part of the newly introduced Science Stream (established in the year 2023) of the college, and has affiliation from Bodoland University, Assam. The department is a vibrant hub for biodiversity and animal life research. Students can thrive in their academics and follow their passion for zoology in a supportive and engaging atmosphere.

Vision

To acquire sound knowledge of Zoology, the department aims to inculcate a thirst for knowledge in animal science, a mindset for sustainable development and preservation of biodiversity and the environment through quality educational practices and research.

B. Sc (Major and Generic)

DEPARTMENTAL FACILITIES:

The department is well-equipped to facilitate both theoretical and practical aspects of zoological studies. It has an extensive collection of materials, including reference books and textbooks. The departmental laboratory is equipped with several instruments like Compound microscope, Dissecting microscope, Binocular microscope, Digital balance, digital Colorimeter, Digital pH meter, binoculars, Sahli’s Haemoglobinometer, Haemocytometer, etc. The department maintains a collection of preserved permanent slides of animal life in addition to bottled museum specimens. Preserved permanent slides primarily consist of cell division stages, types of tissues, etc. Museum specimen include collection of both invertebrates as well as vertebrates. The laboratory has ample of chemicals to conduct the experiments in accordance with the course curriculum.
