Bagadhar Brahma Kishan College, Jalah was originally known as Kishan College. It was established on the 16th day of August, 1978 at Jalahghat of the then Kamrup District, now Baksa district of Assam with the aim of imparting higher education to the locality. After around five years, the college was renamed as ‘Bagadhar Brahma Kishan College’ in order to give recognition to the contributions of Bagadhar Brahma, a noted Social-Worker of the locality. The college begins with P.U. (Pre-University) in Arts in the year 1978 under the principal ship of Sri Sitesh Chandra Sarma Pathak. Sri Gangapada Choudhury, joined the college as Principal in 1982 and led the college to a greater height during his tenure. The college received affiliation from Gauhati University and the Govt. of Assam subsequently took over the college under deficit grant in aid system in 1986.
